How Horrorville went from an idea to a season of television.
From zero to AI filmmaker in 90 days
Craig Williams had the world of Horrorville in his head and couldn't find anyone who could build it the way he saw it. So he taught himself AI filmmaking from scratch and made the series himself, going from no AI experience to a finished season in about three months.
Human-written, AI-produced
Horrorville is an original series created and written by a person. AI is the production tool, not the author. Every character, joke and story turn starts on the page; AI filmmaking tools are how those pages become pictures.
Why a mockumentary
The documentary format lets the monsters talk straight to camera about losing their jobs, which is where most of the comedy comes from. It also fits the show's joke: the creatures who used to be filmed for movies are now being filmed for a documentary about why nobody films them anymore.
Built from a story bible
The show runs on a full story bible, including fixed rules for how each monster works, so the world stays consistent from episode to episode as the season grows.
Born on Instagram
Horrorville started as short episodic clips on Instagram (@horrorvilleseries) before the full Season 1 episodes landed on YouTube.
