REN’s mother reminds me of my own!!! She would use emotional blackmail to get me to do what she wanted when I was growing up, problem was I let her get away with it and in some ways it ruined my relationship with my girlfriend at the time. She died in 2020 due to Covid related issues and since by then she was suffering with dementia, it was a blessing. My problem now is that I don’t really miss her and haven’t been able to forgive her for a lot of things. Parents should always be there for their kids but they should NEVER use that privilege against the child, no matter how old the child is.

Yes the mother thinks she is protecting her daughter but like others have said the emotional blackmail.shouldn't happen. Both are adults let them work it out the way that works for them.
